'TO THE KING'

A coloured engraving of this picture was given by Frank to the next youngest brother Frederick de la Hyde, after he returned from his trip to Australia circa 1908.

Frank added his brother Frederick and his wife Alice to the engraving behind the bench on the right. This is illustrated on the previous page of this gallery.

Frederick married Alice Elizabeth Rider in January 1908, and possibly the engraving was given to Frederick and Alice as a belated wedding present.

It seems to be rather parsimonious of Frank to have given a coloured engraving, as he was a wealthy famous artist - an original oil painting might have been expected.
