'An Interesting Story'
|
(30.5" w x 38.5" h, (oil) circa 1900) I received this intriguing picture today, (30 Nov. 2004). The owner says "...I acquired this painting back in 1981 in San Bernadino, California. It is museum framed, the image area is 30.5" wide and 38.5" high. It is painted in oil over casine under painting in the classic style." Coincidentally I had just put two articles written by my maternal grandfather (Josiah Francis Hudleston) on my mothers web site "Joan's Scrapbook", in pdf form. Thus I was pleased to receive this picture, illustrating the pleasure that can be derived from books. It is probable that the monks did not have the foresight to get copyrights covering electronic media copies of books produced by them! I contacted Frank's granddaughter Elizabeth to try and get more information on it, but at this stage it does not seem that she is familiar with it, but I will send the picture. With luck more information may become available |
