'Singing For Their Supper'

Singing for their supper

'Singing For Their Supper'
(1894 - 32" w x 24" h - oil)

The sender of the image wrote in her initial correspondence:

"I recently inherited a beautiful painting from my grandfather. I believe its entitled, "Singing For Their Supper." It is signed Frank Hyde 1894. It depicts three monks with hands bound behind their backs singing, while two noblemen conduct their chorus. One monk looks back hungrily at a table of food."

This one of my favourite paintings of Frank's.

It is through these contributions that I hope that Frank is ultimately lifted from his present level of relative obscurity.
