KAMAYAN SA PALAISDAAN - FLOATING RESTAURANT

Girl on a swing

On the way to catch the ferry to Lubang at Calatagan we stopped over night with friends in Calamba.

Late afternoon we went for an evening meal to the fish restaurant - 'Kamayan sa Palaisdaan'.

I like eating meals on a floating raft - perhaps because it brings back fond memories of my distant youth.

When I was very young I constructed a bamboo raft and conned my two sisters to carry it to a large pool in some swamp land, along with a large cast iron bath tub.

As the overseer and designer, I tested it by placing my youngest sister in the bath, which was securely tied to the raft.

I then watched it slowly sink - because the bath plug I designed proved to be a loose fit - fortunately I had a rope tied to the raft which facilitated a hasty exit by my sister.

By some chance my parents never found out.

Nor did our neighbour when he discovered that he had misplaced a bath.

There are two restaurants with the same name. The one I went to is the Pond Kamayaan in the Bay and is located on National Highway, Bgy. Dila, Bay, Laguna. The official web-site for the company seems to be: (http://www.kamayansapalaisdaan.com.ph/index.html)
