SAN JOSÉ MUNICIPAL CENTER, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO

My decision to accompany Myrna to San José was only made the night before taking the plane. My only reference was a Lonely Planet guide to the Philippines.

Thus my three day visit was more of a series of random walks rather than following a fixed plan.

The guide book states:
"SAN JOSÉ - pop. 111,009 - The southernmost town in Mindoro Occidental, San José is notable for having an airport and that's about it."

I hope that the few pages I have prepared, from my brief visit to San José, indicates that there is more depth to San José than what the guide book indicates.

Construction work on the San Jose Municipal Hall

Among the infrastructure projects to be implemented for the year (2011) are the new two-storey public market, new municipal police station, improvement of the municipal gymnasium, improvement of the municipal park, Acacia Park and Children’s Playground, uniform food stalls, grand terminal, improvement of the municipal plaza, Aroma Beachwalk, Hall of Justice, and several barangay and farm-to-market roads. Mini piers are also set for construction to aid in the inter-island tourism activities in the area.
